NAPPS set to open N30m secretariat, plans resource centre, e-library
Lagos, April 15, 2019 The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Lagos Chapter on Monday said it would set up a resource centre and and e-Library, among other facilities, to shore up its finances.
Alhaji Wasiu Adumadeyin, President, NAPPS, Lagos chapter, hinted of the plan at a press briefing ahead of the inauguration of the association’s N30million permanent secretariat in Lagos, scheduled for April 17.
Adumadeyin, who commended members of NAPPS for their contribution toward the building and furnishing of the secretariat, said there was a need to get additional income for the association.
He expressed gratitude to God that after a long while, the dream of having a befitting secretariat in the state had become a reality.
“We thank God that the dream of having a befitting secretariat for NAPPS Lagos has been fulfilled, as Lagos chapter, until now, was the only chapter in the south -west without a permanent secretariat, ” the association president said.
Adumadeyin said it was noteworthy that the building and furnishing of the new secretariat was financed by members of the association.
“Our members have been very supportive financially, morally and otherwise, to ensure that the structure was put on ground.
“Some of them were members of the special committee set up and mandated to source for a befitting property to acquire while others ensured payment of their dues as and when expected.
“Furnishing of the Secretariat was a competition among the chapters in the state, but Ifako-Ijaye chapter took the lead in the contribution,” he said.
According to him, the elders of the association were responsible for equipping the secretariat with facilities, while the branding and painting of the building was sponsored by Sterling Bank, the association’s official bank.
Adumadeyin said the Education Board of the association would be relocated from Hallmark School , Ikorodu where it had been operating from to the secretariat as soon as the building was opened.
Hon. Wale Wasiu, Chairman, Planning and Commissioning Committee, said that arrangement had been completed for the opening of the building on Wednesday.
Wasiu said that the Deputy Governor , Dr Idiat Adebule, had confirmed her attendance for the event, while several other notable dignitaries would also grace the occasion.
He assured that adequate security for protection of lives and property had been put in place for the commissioning.
NAN reports that NAPPS Lagos chapter had existed for about 20 years, though it was formerly known as the Association of Proprietors of Private schools (APPS).
Private schools within the state, such as Victory Grammar School, Ikeja, Apata Memorial High School, Isolo and Was-Lat School, Lagos Island had at various times donated their facilities as temporary secretariat for the association.
The new Secretariat is located along Ago place at Okota area , Isolo , Lagos.
